INDIAN HORSE RELAY
High speed bareback relay racing, and a unique variety of Native American Arts and Crafts. Presented by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.
About Indian Horse Relay:
Indian Horse Relay is America’s first sport. Its history dates back over 400 years when the horse returned to the continent and became part of the culture of the Indian nations and plains.
Each team consists of three horses and four warriors. Riders in full regalia will race bareback on the track and exchange horses at top speeds in front of the grandstand.
The horse was an important part of the Native American culture, spiritually and way of life. On many reservations this connection continues today through Relay.
MYSTIC LAKE DERBY
Also, featuring the Richest Race of the Season – the $200,000 Mystic Lake Derby on Saturday, August 26. Special 6 PM Post Time.
